2014 Dance Clinic



Current World Junior Ice Dance Champions, Jean-Luc Baker and Kaitlin Hawayek, placed fourth overall in their Senior debut in the ISU Grand Prix of figure skating series last week in Oberstdorf, Germany.  Baker and Hawayek have been awarded two more competitions on the Senior International Grand Prix circuit.  They will be competing in the Rostelecom Cup in Moscow Russia from November 14th through 16th then again in the NHK trophy in Osaka Japan from November 28th through 30th.

Jean-Luc Baker, 21, from Mukilteo, WA and Kaitlin Hawayek, 17, from East Aurora, NY recently gained the title of World Junior Ice Dance Champions at the World Championships in Sofia Bulgaria earlier this year.

Jean-Luc is a lifetime honorary member of his home club; Seattle Skating Club in Mountlake Terrace, WA.  Kaitlin is a member of the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield, MI. 

Jean-Luc, a former graduate of Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, moved to Michigan to train the day after his graduation in June 2012. Prior to that date he was coached at Olympicview Ice Arena in Mountlake Terrace by his parents, Sharon and Stephen Baker, who were both National Champions for Great Britain; his mother also competed in the ice dance event at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Gianna Buckley and Caleb Niva on their Gold Medals for both Intermediate Pattern & Free Dance at the Pikes Peak Classic for Pairs & Dance in Colorado Springs, CO. They were also the recipients of the Oscar T. Iobst, Jr Memorial Trophy which was given for the Best Performance in Free Dance at the Juvenile, Intermediate, or Novice Levels!
